The challenge for Hellmann was to create a unique recruitment experience able to attract the right IT talent, communicate the company's corporate culture as being built on next-level tech and to position the brand as a future-ready organization. By leveraging the metaverse as the destination for this experience, Hellmann was able to showcase their ambitions and appeal to talent looking to work at the forefront of innovation for logistics.

Rethinking Recruiting

Challenge

Hellmann’s recruiting event in the metaverse consisted of three parts: a clear storyline guiding people through the experience, a virtual world to explore and the ability to openly interact with Hellmann employees. Collaborating across strategy, storytelling, design and programming, our collaborative insights and ideas translated into models, interfaces, interactions, user flows and experiences in only eight weeks.

“Working together, we were able to create a foundation for growth that is both true to our company and our mission as founders, and forward-looking enough to continue to scale with us in the years ahead.”   

Made of Air, a Berlin-based startup, has developed a revolutionary new carbon-negative thermoplastic. The material is produced using wood waste from forests and farms, in a process that stores more carbon than it emits. With their cutting-edge sustainable materials and a bold mission to disrupt resource-intensive, carbon-polluting business-as-usual, Made of Air is transforming products in the worlds of mobility, consumer goods and the built environment. In preparation for their next stages of growth, the venture came to frog for help launching a comprehensive new brand strategy and identity.

The frog team of venture design leads, strategists, visual and industrial designers, and a program manager worked closely with Made of Air to reflect the venture’s business objectives at each phase of research and design. Working in continuous collaboration with the founders, the team began by laying a strategic foundation anchored in key customer, ecosystem and value chain insights. Building on top of this structured brand framework, the team created a new visual identity and designed a complete system for expression across all verbal, visual and material embodiments of the brand. The result is a clear, consistent, recognizable brand identity and company positioning enabling Made of Air to accrue value and capture the attention of purpose-driven lead investors, mindful partners and top, diverse talent.

Setting the Foundations
The first phase of the frog + Made of Air collaboration involved setting strong, differentiated foundations for the Made of Air brand—from defining a core purpose, to solidifying a go-to-market strategy and aligning on a partnership vision. As Made of Air offers a revolutionary new material requiring clear explanation, it was also mission-critical to establish a precise-yet- accessible vocabulary and communication style for the brand and its offering.

Visualizing Climate Action
Inspired by the possibility of Made of Air’s signature carbon-negative thermoplastic, the frog team created rich imagery of the distinctive black material in various applications, from home furniture to architectural facades. These assets have become an arresting addition to Made of Air marketing and sales materials.
Over the course of the program, the team also worked together to tell the story of the brand through a radically new mark. The mark began with the six carbon ring of benzene, depicted by the hexagon. This shape was chosen and modified to evoke the carbon cycle—the process of carbon moving through our air, plants, oceans, animals, soil and back again. The broken hexagon of the mark reflects Made of Air’s commitment to helping reverse climate change by capturing carbon from this natural cycle and sequestering it permanently.

Driving Business Outcomes
Despite working remotely from homes and studios across Europe, the frog and Made of Air team maintained constant alignment on the program’s goals. The frog team helped Made of Air to distill its purpose to a single statement: ‘We are in business to reverse climate change.’ The new brand solidifies Made of Air’s position as an ambitious venture built on sustainable purpose, willing to challenge conventional thinking on environmental and climate action. At a crucial stage of growth, the new brand story rallies the team and their partners–and advances their multi-bottom line agenda. Reflecting on the collaboration, Neema Shams, Made of Air’s Chief Commercial Officer says, “Reexamining all that we did, it’s pretty mind blowing. We’ve already gotten a speechless reaction from a few of our board members.”

Following just 10 weeks of engagement, the Made of Air Brand re-launched in October 2021 with a complete brand strategy and brand playbook, sales pitch materials, a new verbal and visual identity, a completely redesigned website and a new brand mark that better connects to the company’s vision of breaking the carbon cycle. As part of the frog ventures portfolio, frog and Made of Air are well positioned to disrupt traditional business models and motivations and make a mark on the planet through sustainable innovation and regenerative design.  

Designing the Next Era of Telehealth for Europe

“The world has changed, and healthcare is failing to keep up. Digital can provide the solution, but it has not yet succeeded. Now is the time to change that.”


Almost <a href="https://www.poweredbyc2.com/2015/06/11/is-telehealth-becoming-the-new-norm-in-patient-care/">75 percent of primary care consultations</a> could be resolved without in-person appointments. Yet, less than one percent of them are actually run remotely, impacting both overall costs and quality of care. Better virtual care experiences have incredible potential to provide patients with better care, providers with efficient delivery and society with improved public health outcomes. In February 2020, frog partnered with <a href="https://www.healthhero.com/">HealthHero</a> to launch a virtual primary care venture that aims to bridge this gap, bringing together the convenience of digital delivery with the expertise of human clinicians.
Combining HealthHero’s clinical experience with frog’s <a href="https://www.frog.co/services/venture-design">Venture Design</a> approach, the team quickly iterated to shape the long-term vision, launch the business and bring to market its first flagship teleconsultation service, MediRedi.

HealthHero is a new digital-first healthcare venture formed in Autumn 2019 from a combination of leading clinical businesses and backed by Marcol, a pan-European investment house. The HealthHero platform has a B2B2C focus to drive scale through insurers, employers and governments. The frog and HealthHero team worked together to consolidate the value proposition, architect a differentiated service offering and design the user experience vision. The multidisciplinary team from frog studios in London, Munich and Milan moved quickly from frameworks to sketches to prototypes, crafting in just four weeks a final pitch deck that helped accelerate engagement with investors, customers and ecosystem partners.

Building the foundation

When COVID-19 hit, frog and HealthHero agreed on an ambitious plan to bring the service vison to a marketable MVP that would help alleviate the strain on core healthcare systems during the pandemic. The team deployed the full set of frog capabilities to envision and deliver MediRedi, a new B2C tele-consultation service, ready to pilot in just three months. The tight collaboration led to the design and build of digital touchpoints—a responsive website for patients and a customized consultation dashboard for doctors—as well as defining value proposition, pricing and operating models.

Making it real

The frog and HealthHero team created MediRedi as a flexible and scalable technology solution designed to quickly interface with new service components and evolving requirements, acting as the foundation for the B2B2C service delivery. The solution is a modern cloud-based application that relies on a new API layer to integrate and orchestrate underlying services and systems, and provides the user with a unified view and distinctive experience. This architecture allows HealthHero to adapt to diverse client, patient and healthcare system needs. From chat services to phone and video consultations, HealthHero delivers effective care by connecting human experts with those in need through digital means—all the while expanding the breadth of what is possible to treat remotely by leveraging the latest technology solutions.

After exploring strategies on a new digital telemedicine service, the frog and HealthHero team began to design and build the MediRedi B2C platform.

April 2020

HealthHero and MediRedi went online, attracting investors, recruiting clinicians for the upcoming launch and serving as a demonstrator for B2B clients. 

August 2020

With the UK B2C offering in Beta, the team started the ambitious journey of scaling the solution to key European countries.

January 2021
