With Xiaomi’s IoT ecosystem and brand rapidly expanding, so too was the urgency to create more consistently delightful user experiences. In order to keep pushing their family of internet-connected home appliances into the future, they engaged frog to help define a design language system.
The approach we used was an “atomic design framework,” through which we deconstructed Xiaomi’s existing products into their most minimal and viable components to create a library of elements.
We then conducted in-depth and immersive user research and analysis to understand the opportunities or unmet needs within the connected-home appliance market. From here, we moved into a rapid prototyping stage, where we were able to produce prototypes at varying degrees of fidelity and test them through two rounds of user validation.
During the collaboration with Xiaomi, the frog team also took careful consideration of the feasibility of these products. Our creative teams and design technologists worked closely to build semi-functional prototypes for validation and iteration.
Ultimately, frog built and delivered a comprehensive design language system to guide Xiaomi’s existing product refinement and future product innovation.
